It's been five years since my last post during which time I dealt with my fallout of the real estate recession. I have now stopped full time RVing, bought a house in Venice, FL and am now on an RV trip in upstate NY.
I took the train to New York City from Saratoga Springs (my new favorite city) with my friend Jim to see the sights. Jim's friend, Damien, came with us and was our guide for what proved to be the most memorable 20 hours of my life. We saw all the main attractions and became one the city. We walked 9 miles through parks and districts and got a real feel for the flavor of each area. The view from the 360 degree observatory of the new World Trade Center which is 102 stories, the tallest bldg. in the city (Empire State Bldg. pales by comparison), was unbelievable. And, the memorial at the site of the old buildings was so peaceful, understated and beautifully done with waterfalls cascading into each hole in the ground and each fallen person’s name beautifully engraved in the polished granite surrounding it. We then went to an Off Broadway show Damien's wife was featured in. The 5 1/2 hour round trip train ride along the Hudson was exceptional. We had nice Business Class seats. What an amazing day. I wanted to share some photos of this incredible city with you.

The incredible new World Trade Center Building. One building has replaced the two fallen.
The World Trade Center memorial. It is a lovely tranquil place to honor the dead. The water cascades down from the names of those fallen etched in stone, cleansing the ruin that once was. They created a very thoughtful, simple, loving tribute to such an unspeakable event.
